Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Review

This is a beauty in terms of smartphone design, I have to hand it to samsung for up'ing their game in the design department. The first thing that you will notice on the phone is that fact that is has curved edges on the display and the Amoled shines gloriously as you turn on the phone and start to use it. The specs on this beast of a phone is as follows:

5.5 inch Amoled display

1440x2560 Resolution

Snapdragon 820 quad core 2.3 Ghz CPU

4GB Ram

Micro SD Card Slot (Expandable up to 200GB)

12MP Rear Facing Camera

5MP Front Facing Camera

Wi-Fi 802.11

Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)

Fast Charging up to 60% in 30 mins.

3600 mAh Battery

Now, Back to the design I love the combination of metal and glass they used in the construction of this phone and it feels very solid in the hand. The phone doesn’t feel like its going to slip out of my hand a break as an iPhone, it's rounded edges gives you a good grasp of the phone. The buttons on the phone such as the volume rocker and power button feel very firm and clicky, as well as the dedicated home button. Just unlocking the phone at first glance will make you want the phone due to the highly saturated amoled display. Even though there are still remnants of the incredibly out dated touchwiz interface Samsung has toned it down a lot. It would be almost stock android if it wasn’t for this few tidbit left over from touchwiz which used to dominate the entire android UI and was awful. The Samsun Galaxy S7 Edge is fast and snappy with no lag flicking in and out of apps and windows.

The addition of a "theme" menu is also pretty awesome which allows you to change the entire theme of the phone and it also has a section built into the feature where you can go to download more themes till your hearts content. Instead of Google Now when you swipe to the left you get Flipboard. The Camera on this phone is pretty awesome as well it has a ton of features and a pro option for tweking color and lighting, it's basically the same as a fully featured standalone Samsung Camera. When you swipe from the right of the edge display you get several options, quick menus, and different apps you can add and customize what you want there which is a really nice touch and makes the edge feature actually useful and less of a gimmick.

In closing my lasting impressions of this phone are good and if you're in the market for a new android phone this is definitely a solid choice. It wouldn't be my first pick for an android phone for myself because I love stock android too much and the new Nexus phones are just awesome, however, this doesn't stray too far from stock android. Overall I love this phone and it's design and I would say you wouldn't regret this purchase.
