Hp Envy x360 m6 Convertible Gaming Laptop Review.
This Laptop does stand out in a few different ways that I will explain, and express to you (my Viewers) how my experience with this laptop has been. There are some draw backs to this laptop as well as some trade off's that you should be made aware of if you are considering the purchase of this laptop. The fist thing I want talk about is the most obvious, and that is the build quality and design. This laptop has a beautiful design and has a metallic (MacBook feel to it) with its all metal construction. It's very sleek and is still quite thin for a gaming laptop. The backlit keyboard is also a plus, as it feels just right when typing so kudos to HP for the keyboard. The trackpad on the other hand leaves much to be desired as it has an awkward sort of clicking mechanism and it just doesn't feel right. You can get by with the track pad just as with most laptops on the market but you will definitely want to use a mouse most of the time. So, my overall opinion of the HP Envy x360's build quality and design is, simply beautiful.
Since battery life is a deal breaker for some people I'll say it lasts me about 5-6 hours depending on what I'm working on. Heavy use lands me in the 3-5 hour range, gaming will bring you to 2-3 hours depending on the graphic intensity of the game you're playing. This Laptop comes equipped with the Nvidia Gtx 930m so gaming is a breeze! Most games are playable @50 frames per second at 1366x768 on medium to low settings and 35-45 fps @ 1920x1080p on low settings. This laptop isn't top of the line for gaming but it fairs well. Editing Video and photos are also done smoothly with this machine but it does get hot after long periods of heavy use and I did experience a bit of CPU throttling. However, it has to be under pressure for quite a long period of time before throttling starts to happen. For the most part I have been able to play games and edit video and photo's without being hampered by anything.
Now for some of the trade off's, The Hard drive is pretty slow @ 5400 rpm and if you decide to buy this laptop, buy it knowing you will need to upgrade to an SSD in order to make this machine worth while. You will have complete freedom as far as positioning is concerned, because the hinge is flexible. This laptop can be used in tent mode, tablet mode and stand mode. I am kind of disappointed with the IPS display, the viewing angles are kind of bleh and it wouldn't be so bad if the glass covering the touch panel wasn't such a glare magnet. If you are using this laptop in a florescent lit room then the viewing angles are limited, but in low lit rooms it's fine but don't expect comfort using it outside on a café table. My overall opinion of the laptop is that it is a very capable and beautiful machine and I have thus far enjoyed owning it. So if you are looking for a great bargain buy Laptop this is it!! For what you are getting it's definitely worth the $900+ price tag. This laptop is still available at bestbuy.com or amazon (take a look with this link)
